'How do they make the guitars?'

Errrr...Ummmm...I think...Let me see...Hmmmm?!

I often get asked questions that I cannot answer sufficiently on the spur of the moment. One of my students in particular demonstrates great curiosity about the mechanics of the guitar. He is 7 years old so I can usually meet his requirements in a very basic way. However, last week, as he thought really hard about what to quiz me on come post-lesson 'question-time' (and I thought I was going to get off lightly!) I was a bit stumped. I play guitar, I teach guitar, I can even clean guitars but I'm no expert when it comes to building and repair. So here's a short vid I found that may help with said curiosity. Some of my educated guesses weren't too bad but even for seasoned players this should make interesting viewing.

For the record, I have successfully fielded questions about how many guitars I own, who taught me how to play guitar, why I teach guitar....and during the recent Football World Cup (Brazil 2014) we often ended a lesson debating the relative merits of Messi, Ronaldo and 'Chewy' Suarez :)

I am available for guitar lessons in Blessington and the broader West Wicklow area. My fees include the supply of relevant learning materials and I travel to you for additional convenience. Check out more details about my coaching philosophy here and use the contact form to get started :)

Until later

Shane
